First GCF Board meeting of 2017 set to meet in Songdo

The 16th meeting of the governing body of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) will take place in Songdo, Republic of Korea, from 4 to 6 April.

Over the three-day period, the 24-member Board will focus on the consideration of nine new project proposals with an estimated value of USD 855 million of GCF funding, as well as several programmatic and operational matters. Some highlights include: an update report on the Fund’s initial Strategic Plan, adopted at its 12th meeting in March 2016; policies on the formal replenishment process; the competitive process for the selection of the Permanent Trustee; and matters related to GCF’s accreditation framework and policy.

The 16th meeting will see several new members join the Board for the first time, which will be co-chaired by Mr. Ayman Shasly of Saudi Arabia and Mr. Ewen McDonald of Australia.
