To improve the research of water resources in the Dnipro basin and to expand cooperation between the involved organizations in Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus – these are the main tasks of a joint project of two countries entitled “Transboundary hydro-meteorological and environmental monitoring system of the Dnipro River”.
The involvement of qualified specialists will allow creating autonomous wireless monitoring stations to enhance the effectiveness of the environmental situation study. Also, the project provides for the public awareness raising activities in order to disseminate information on the Dnipro basin and to shape a responsible attitude to the water resources use in the region.
Joint Belarusian-Ukrainian project “Transboundary hydro-meteorological and environmental monitoring system of the Dnipro River” is being implemented through the grant of the European Union. In the long-term it is planned to apply the project’s results in other rivers’ basins of the region, in particular, in the Desna River that will allow creating an integrated water resources monitoring system.
